They grow in containers or in the ground in regions where temperatures drop no lower than 50 degree F. The fibre gained from the banana plant has been used to make textiles for a long time. Banana fibre is also used to make banana paper. A ripe fruit contains as much as 22 percent of carbohydrate. mainly as sugar, and is high in dietary fibre,potassium, manganese, and vitamins B6 and C. Banana trees grow best in a rich, well-drained soil. Salt is not tolerated. Banana trees prefer acidic soil.
